Education and Training

Michael Raugh was trained in hypnotism through Garret College in McHenry, Maryland using the International Medical and Dental Hypnosis Association training curriculum. He is Board Certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists as a Consulting Hypnotist and as an Instructor of Hypnotism, and does annual continuing education to maintain his training at a high level.  Michael is a certified Master Practioner and Trainer of Neurolinguistic Programming with the National Federation of Neurolinguistic Programming.

Ian Raugh was trained in hypnotism through the National Guild of Hypnotists and is a certified member of that organization.  He takes annual continuing education to maintain his training at a high level.

The National Guild of Hypnotists is the oldest and largest hypnotism organization in the world and its certification is the most widely recognized credential for the professional practice of the hypnotic arts.

The National Federation of Neurolinguistic Programming is the leading world-wide professional association of NLP practitioners.

AS NEITHER THE STATE OF MARYLAND NOR THE STATE OF GEORGIA HAS ADOPTED EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING STANDARDS FOR THE PRACTICE OF HYPNOTISM, THIS STATEMENT OF CREDENTIALS IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.  Hypnotism is a self-regulating profession and its practitioners are not licensed by state governments. We are not physicians, psychologists, nor licensed health care providers and may not provide a medical diagnosis nor recommend discontinuance of medically prescribed treatments. If a client desires a diagnosis or any other type of treatment from a different practitioner, the client may seek such services at any time. In the event out services are terminated by a client, the client has a right to coordinated transfer of services to another practitioner. A client has a right to refuse hypnotism services at any time. A client has a right to be free of physical, verbal or sexual abuse. A client has a right to know the expected duration of sessions, and may assert any right without retaliation.

Redress

Michael Raugh and Ian Raugh are both certified members of the National Guild of Hypnotists and practice  in accordance with its Code of Ethics and Standards. If you have a complaint about our services or behavior that we cannot resolve for you personally, you may contact the National Guild of Hypnotists at P.O. Box 308, Merrimack, NH 03054-0308, (603) 429-9438, to seek redress. Other services than ours may be available to you in the community. NGH can refer you to another local NGH member, or you may locate another hypnotist by other means.

Fees

We use a client-centered approach, so fees vary depending on what it is you’re seeking to accomplish.  We will generally quote you a fee during a free phone consultation, during which we discuss your goals and develop an idea of how to help you reach them.  You will always know the fee amount prior to scheduling any sessions.

For some issues the quoted fee may be for a program, which includes one or more sessions and follow-up activities, rather than a specific number of clock hours.  You will always know what the program includes and what will be expected of you before you commit to the program.

Confidentiality

We will not release any information to anyone without a written authorization from you, except as provided for by law. You have a right to be allowed access to my written records about you.

Insurance

We suggest you think of our services as something that you will pay for personally. That will both protect your privacy and help you value the work you are doing more.  As non-medical lay hypnotists, our services fall outside the categories used by health insurance providers. We will happily provide you with a detailed receipt that you can use to file for reimbursement from your insurance provider, but whether they will do that, and by how much, is up to the insurance provider.

Our Approach

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Hypnosis is a natural state of human consciousness. We do not put you into hypnosis; rather, we guide and help you to reach that state and then provide suggestions designed to help you to change your thinking, habits, and/or behavior in order to reach your goal.  We do not treat, prescribe or diagnose any medical or psychological condition and do not give medical or psychological advice.

Our style is client-centered, low-key and relaxed. Depending on the reason we are working together, we may have one session or several. We generally aim to get you to your goal in as few sessions as possible. We will never ask you to commit to a minimum number of sessions; any session could be the last one if you choose to make it so.

Every hypnosis session is individualized to the client using a combination of hypnosis and NLP techniques. While we are working you have your hypnotist’s undivided attention; we do not use recordings in the office and we do not read from pre-prepared scripts. We take the time that we need, however long or short that may be. When your session is over you can expect to remember the entire session clearly. We want you to know what we talk about so that when you start seeing success you will understand how you did it.
